Specialized care for eating disorders and anxiety
If you are struggling with your relationship with food, your body, or fear that has taken over more of your life than you'd like, you are in the right place. I offer evidence-based telehealth therapy for adults with eating disorders and anxiety disorders that is tailored to your unique history, identity, and circumstances. Below you will find more information about what I treat, how I work, and what to expect from telehealth.
What I Treat
Eating Disorders
I work with adults navigating all forms of disordered eating, including:
Anorexia Nervosa
Bulimia Nervosa
Binge-Eating Disorder
Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
Orthorexia and rigid food rules
Otherwise Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED)
Body image concerns and disordered eating that may not fit a formal diagnosis
Please note that the standard of care for eating disorder treatment typically involves working closely with a medical provider and often a registered dietitian. I am happy to provide referrals to providers with eating disorder experience and to coordinate care with your existing treatment team.
Anxiety Disorders
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of anxiety presentations, including:
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Social Anxiety Disorder
Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia
Health Anxiety
Emetophobia (fear of vomiting)
Specific Phobias
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Treatment Approach
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a structured, goal-oriented therapy grounded in the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By learning to recognize and shift unhelpful patterns, you can reduce distress and build a life that feels more flexible and manageable. CBT has decades of research support for eating disorders, anxiety, and OCD, and it forms the foundation of most of my work.
CBT is collaborative by design. I bring clinical training and knowledge of what the research supports; you bring expertise about yourself, your history, and your life. Together, we build a treatment plan that fits you.
Within the broader CBT framework, I am trained in several specialized approaches:
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the first-line treatment for OCD and a core component of most anxiety treatments. ERP works by gradually and systematically approaching feared situations, thoughts, or sensations rather than avoiding them, building evidence over time that fear can be tolerated, and that avoidance is no longer necessary.
Enhanced CBT for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) is an evidence-based treatment for anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and OSFED.
CBT for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (CBT-AR) is a specialized treatment for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder.
Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) are evidence-based treatments for PTSD.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills
I incorporate specific DBT skills for distress tolerance and emotion regulation into my work where clinically appropriate. It is important to note that I do not offer comprehensive DBT treatment, which typically includes a skills group and phone coaching in addition to individual therapy. If you are looking for comprehensive DBT, I am happy to provide referrals to providers who offer the full treatment package.
Intuitive Eating Framework
For clients working toward eating disorder recovery, I incorporate the intuitive eating framework to support rebuilding trust with hunger and fullness cues, developing a more flexible and peaceful relationship with food, and moving away from rigid food rules toward sustainable, nourishing eating.
Collaborative Care
I work closely with your other providers, including psychiatrists, medical providers, and dietitians, to ensure your care is coordinated and consistent. This collaboration is particularly important in eating disorder treatment, where medical monitoring is often a critical component of safety.
Telehealth
I offer individual telehealth therapy to adults with eating disorders and anxiety disorders. All sessions are conducted through a secure online platform. I am licensed in Washington state. Through the PSYPACT interstate agreement, I am also authorized to see clients across more than 40 additional states and territories. You can find a current map of eligible states at www.psypact.gov
Telehealth is not a compromise. Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy. For some interventions, telehealth can be even more useful. Exposure work can happen in your own home, and meal support can happen in your own kitchen with your own food. Many clients also find that being in a familiar, comfortable space makes it easier to do the hard work of therapy.
Culturally-Responsive Care
I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities and recognize that every person's identities shape what they need from therapy. I practice cultural humility and put active effort into learning about identities that are not my own, understanding how historical and current systems of oppression impact mental health, and incorporating that understanding into our work together.
I am committed to providing therapy that is anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ affirming, neurodivergent affirming, and weight inclusive. I practice from a Health at Every Size framework and work to create a space where all bodies are respected and where weight is not treated as a measure of health or worth.
I recognize that this is an ongoing and lifelong effort, and I welcome feedback when I may not fully understand your perspective or experience.
